Oil on canvas (30x40”)©Eugene G. Maurakis, Ph.D. Interpretation of human breast cancer cells (image ID SS2129406) with permission by Cecil H. Fox, M.D. and Science Source (www.sciencesource.com).

There are more than 3.5 million breast cancer survivors in the United States. An estimated 276,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women during 2020 (American Cancer Society, Jan. 2020). This painting is dedicated to all who battle breast cancer, and to my dear aunt and cousin (her daughter), who fought breast cancer for almost three decades.
